Website Troubleshooting

We have observed some issues that occur between broswers, operating systems, and networks.  These tips will help you avoid them.

BROWSER

  • Any Browser
    • After you first start your browser give it several seconds to initialize before asking it to do anything, like opening the drop down menus.
  • Firefox version 3.0.11 and later
    • When you click a link that is configured to open a new tab, the tab will be opened in a new brower that may be hiding behind the browser you are currently using.  With the pop-up blocker UNchecked, if you hold down the Ctrl key when you click the link, the page will be opened in a new tab on the current browser.  Some additional settings that will be helpful:
      • On the Firefox menu system go to Tools > Options > Tabs > click the round Radio Buttono beside "New pages should be opend in: a new tab."
      • And go to Tools > Options > Tabs > Check the box beside "When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately.
    • Viewing a Microsoft Word Document
      • If you click a link for a Word document (WordFileName.doc ) and your are not given the option to “Open With Word” and view it on your screen, do the following: Go to the Tools Menu > Options > Applications Tab > Scroll down and select Microsoft Word Document > In the right hand column, select "Always Ask."  Close your browser and reopen it.
      • If you receive the message "Could not find the file..."
        • Access the file through the Firefox browser (Google "Firefox Download")
        • Access the file through another computer that is running Internet Explorer.
  • Internet Explorer
    • When you first open Internet Explorer, or when it comes to a new page, it must fully initialize.  If you try to access the Menu by placinig your mouse cursor over them (HOME, Who We Are, etc.) and they do not drop down to show their menu items, wait 5 - 10 seconds and try again.
    • If you cannot view an Adobe .pdf from Internet Explorer:
      • View it from Firefox browser.  (Google "Download Firefox")
      • Your Adobe Registry settings may be corrupt.  Go to Control Panel > Add Remove Programs and Remove Adobe Acrobat Reader.
        • Google "Download Adobe Reader" and reinstall Adobe Acrobat Reader.
      • Make sure you have Adobe 7 installed on your computer.  Adobe 9 is known to cause this problem.
  • Non-Internet Explorer
    • If you cannot stream audio (hear it shortly after clicking the play button) do so from Internet Explorer.  Or, you can download the audio file from any broswer, and then play the file while it is on your computer.

If these tips do not solve your problem, please email the Webmaster a detailed description of your issue.
