“Rather train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come”

Come learn about “The Call of God” while taking part in activities such as Art, Basketball, Ballet or Outdoor Adventure.

"Beyond the mere words of the parables are deep, hidden spiritual truths. These truths are hidden truths unless one has been given the spiritual eyes and ears to see and hear them. Their beauty and worth are denied, misunderstood, or rejected by those whose eyes and ears are blind and deaf to spiritual truth. To see and hear the hidden things of God requires spiritual eyes and ears. Hunger for spiritual truth requires awakened senses, and to love the things of God requires a new heart (see Ezekiel 11:19, 36:26). God alone is the source of spiritual eyes and undivided hearts. Only he can make blind eyes see, deaf ears hear, dead taste buds hunger, and hardened hearts soft."

  • Children's Worship 4 and 5 year olds
11:00 Worship Service
Leaders: Mark Randle
The purpose of children's church is to glorify God by leading 4 and 5 year olds in worship. This time of worship includes prayer, singing, and instruction. The instruction includes a Bible lesson and special attention toward orienting the children toward corporate worship by learning hymns from our church's hymnal, reviewing the order of worship, and more. This year, the children memorized the Apostle's Creed. Our goal is to share the Word of God with the children and prepare them for corporate worship.

M & M Kids (Mission Minded Kids) 4 year old - 6th Grade

  • Sunday Nights during Sunday Night Teaching Time
  • Leaders: Alicia Schultz, Cynthia Jones and Angela Rehorn
  • The Purpose of Mission Minded Kids is to teach about missions (local and world) and to equip them to serve in their own community. The children begin by singing songs and then listen to various speakers. The speakers vary from international to local missionaries as well as different ministries within the church. We have also had speakers teach about the church's history. One speaker taught the students ways to minister within the church by loving their elders and caring for others that might be different than they. The children will often make cards for patients at the hospital, read to succeed students, missionaries, soldiers, international students or people who need encouragement. The students have fun and learn how God works through missions.

Special Events:

  • Harvest Party - October link to Grant Rowe Jason DeLong
    • See "Harvest Party Sign.doc" attachment at the bottom of this page.
  • Celebrating Christ - December
    • The children celebrate the meaning of Christmas during the Sunday school hour by hearing the story of Christ's' birth. The children then have an opportunity to minister through serving the Irishtown community by stuffing Christmas bags of "goods" for their Christmas store. The main population of the Irishtown community is very diverse, very poor, and isolated from the rest of the city. This year, the children stuffed 350 bags. It is a great opportunity for the children to celebrate the birth of Christ and serve those in need.
  • Cooperstown Easter Egg Hunt - April
    • The Cooperstown Outreach is an annual event where Tates Creek Presbyterian Church hosts an Easter Egg Hunt at the University of Kentucky's Cooperstown Apartment Complex. It begins weeks ahead of time as plastic eggs are collected and then children in the Sunday school classes fill the eggs with donated candy. Then on a Sunday near Easter the event unfolds with adults and children literally from all over the world, as Cooperstown is predominately international in flavor. Nate Jones, the Director of Evangelism for TCPC gives a brief gospel presentation and then the kids are off to the races collecting eggs and the bounty inside. In addition, guests register for door prizes such as a night on the town American style or gift cards to Wal-Mart. All are blessed with fellowship while TCPC members are richer for the opportunity to make new friends and share the aroma of Christ by loving others and making them welcome in our city.
